Our book Petal is a true story of our own lives together and the way we were seen by other people. All of the characters and events depicted in our book are accurate and true in fact everything in our book is exact.I do not blame some people for the way they see us or the way they have treated us in the past most of our misfortunes we brought upon ourselves as Petal shows.Our lives together really began when I told my mother that I was in love with her husband Graeme. Her first reaction was to tell me that I would grow out of it and when I did,nt she paid for our wedding.Because everyone thought that our relationship was at worst illegal and at best bizarre we decided that if we were going to be labelled as bad then bad is what we would be and we started our own monthly Videomagazine designed to trap the very people who we thought were sneering at us.We caught all sorts of people in some very weird situations and got so carried away in what we were doing we often put our own safety at risk. We did,nt blackmail them or anything like that we just sold the stories to the newspapers and magazines which was not a very nice thing for us to do but it was quite profitable.We tried to sell our own story to the press but to our amazement they did,nt want to know until much later and then they only wanted to hear the Mills and Boon part which suited us fine back then.After we were married we set up a business with my mother and her husband David and the newspapers painted a picture of married bliss but it was not really like that, the longer we all stayed together the worse it got, the worse he got spying and perving there were times I just locked myself in my room it got so scary.Before our marriage we had been attacked. Shot at and ridiculed. After our marriage people would spit at us in the street but none of that was as bad as sharing a house, that was our most serious mistake.Now we live on our own in Hastings with our children, ordinary lives at last? Our book Petal was written because of a bet we never intended publishing it but thats how we are, once we start out along a road we don,t stop until the end. This book is not about exposing people those who are mentioned are here because they are a part of our Petal story without them it would become less than true. They are to blame for what they are, what we were was our own fault. Petal for us is like therapy its not a good story to tell but telling it gets it out of ourselves and lets us truly start over again. Now for once in their lives the gossips can actually know what they were talking about all we have been trying to do is survive and we did well to do that. is survive.
If you fancy yourself as a bit of a book critic please keep this in mind. Our book Petal is perfect and the reason it is perfect is because it is a True Story. We could have made everyone a hero and made up some perfect relationship but we did,nt if we had made it nice then it would not have been a True Story with Petal you get exactly what it says on the book cover a Diferent kind of True Story
